Support local businesses by shopping locally-online
Times are tough for these mom and pop shops and they’re bound to get more difficult as social distancing seems to be the norm for the foreseeable future. Many of them are still shipping out products you need for comfort and sometimes sanity. If we can’t celebrate birthdays or anniversaries in person, you can still share some love by sending a little gift to make someone feel special.

Just about everything you need is available from local small businesses. Chances are if you need it, an entrepreneur did as well and decided to build a business around that need. Before placing your next Amazon order for tea, soap, furniture, tableware, books, coffee, beauty products; consider the local businesses that desperately need your support during these difficult times. Are you a regular at a cafe, bar, or restaurant? If you want that place to exist when social distancing restrictions are behind us, you may want to consider showing some love right now. Buying a gift certificate can provide them with some comfort by letting them know that you’re thinking of them and it’s a great way to share some love with your friends from a distance. It’s a win – win – win situation.
I’ve used this as an opportunity to buy gift certificates from some of my favorite places like New India, Wohnzimmer, C.U. Bar and Machete for friends I miss seeing.
Even if your local favorites haven’t advertised gift certificates, contact them and ask for it. This may plant a seed and encourage them to pursue this as a stream of income while their doors are closed.
