Katie Mahan in Innsbruck

Denver, Colorado: the city where Katie Mahan was born is a place known as Mile High City thanks to its location at over 1,600 metres above sea level. It's great to know that Katie is already used to the altitude because it means she won't get dizzy up at the Hafelekar! As a child of the Rockies, mountains are in Katie's blood. It's almost as if she was destined to come to Innsbruck. When she climbs the Nordkette mountain range, her heart starts to race, just like ours. Because the feeling of standing on top of a mountain is simply indescribableThe raw nature, the huge rocky crags, the clear air and the city in the valley below: everything is different. Lighter somehow. The Hafelekar high above Innsbruck is a truly special place! When you add the passionate melodies Katie conjures up from the piano... the concert becomes a truly unforgettable experience!

A summer with mountains and city

What can you do in Innsbruck in summer? The region offers a really cool combination of city living and unwinding in nature. Visit a museum, go shopping and then head to a cool bar in the evening – preferably one with a view of the mountains so you can see where you'll be hiking tomorrow. Or would you rather go biking? Either way, getting up into the mountains is a must at least once during your stay. At the top, simply take a deep breath, relax and feel the freedom. An added bonus when hiking, climbing, biking and enjoying all the other mountain adventures in Innsbruck is that the next mountain hut is never far away. There you can enjoy delicious dumplings, hearty Tyrolean snacks and cool drinks surrounded by alpine nature.

Mountains in comfort

If you want to travel up into the mountains in comfort, you can simply take a lift. The lifts and cable cars in and around Innsbruck whisk you up into high alpine terrain in no time at all. You already know the Nordkettenbahnen lifts so how about taking the Patscherkofelbahn gondola in the south of Innsbruck? Or you could head further out into the area around Innsbruck. All of the lifts and cable cars are accessible by public transport.
