Carillon
A special highlight of the Innsbruck organ scene is the peace carillon in Innsbruck's St. James' Cathedral. As the first four-octave carillon in Austria, it stands out as a highlight of the Glockenspiel scene. An interesting fact: A glockenspiel is known as a carillon if it includes at least 23 bronze bells providing a range of at least 2 octaves. The Innsbruck peace carillon has of 48 bells and a range of 4 octaves. The Department of Culture for the city of Innsbruck and Innsbruck's "Zentrumsverein" for the city centre invite visitors to enjoy peace bell concerts every year.
