50 years of the Christmas market in Innsbruck’s old town

Forerunners of the Christmas market were held in the heart of Innsbruck as early as the 17th century. The market as we know it now, however, has only existed since 1973. Today, the market transforms the old town into a paradise for Christmas fans: stalls selling local handicrafts and traditional specialties surround a majestic Christmas tree and the colourful hustle and bustle is accompanied by an array of festive events and attractions.
