Polifemo concert, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik
Luigi De Donato, known and loved for his portrayal of numerous dramatic roles in recent years, has devised a programme around the one-eyed giant Polifemo together with Vaclav Luks and his Collegium 1704. His voice and charisma make him the ideal embodiment of the character, who is famous not least for his painful encounter with Odysseus on his odyssey. The 3rd Ambras Castle Concert will not only feature parts from Handel's famous serenata "Aci, Galatea e Polifemo", but also rare pieces, including excerpts from the cantata "Il Polifemo" by Pietro Antonio Cesti.
