KLANGSPUREN - FUTRE LAB II: KONSTELLATION PLUS

Fourteen clarinets, five tubas, six organ positives, harpsichord, piano, four violins, four saxophones, a viola, a trumpet, choir and four sopranos - in 1997, when Georges Aperghis was composer in residence at the Strasbourg Conservatoire, ensembles like this were an impressive novelty. His Strasbourg instantanés, or "snapshots", consist of 51 short scores that can be arranged and played in very different ways. The artists interpreting this work are to be inspired by the architecture of the place where they are playing, the local sounds and the atmosphere, so that the work becomes an absolutely unique performance at each performance. From time to time, the music sounds as if it has been improvised - although Aperghis has written everything out meticulously. Nevertheless, improvisation sessions with the students of the conservatory were the source of inspiration, as the French newspaper Le Monde reported after the premiere in 1997. Klangspuren has chosen the Kaufhaus Tyrol in Innsbruck as an unusual and equally exciting performance venue, allowing concertgoers to view the works from their own chosen listening perspective.
